Ponta Malongane is situated at
the Southern tip of Mozambique, just 10km from the North Eastern South
African border.
It will take just 6 hours from Johannesburg and 4 hours from Durban
to reach the border, then you enter through the Kosi Bay Border Post and
travel 15km on sandy roads.

DIVING AT
MALONGANE
The coastline of Southern
Mozambique is covered with the most beautiful and exquisite structures
of hard and soft corals, home to myriads of game and reef fish, Potato
Bass, Rays, Turtles, Dolphins, Whales, Hammerheads and Zambezi Sharks.
Unlike the coral reefs in South Africa, most of these reefs have
remained untouched for nearly 2 decades during the civil war. Therefore
scuba diving in this area, without a question, is some of the finest
scuba diving available in Southern Africa.
Ponta Malongane offers you to dive 18 reefs, ranging from idyllic 8m to
extreme deep blue 40m dives. The closest reef is only 300m offshore,
with the furthest being about 7km boat ride. The reefs offer something
for everyone, from Open Water to Advanced divers, from professional wide
to micro photographers to just casual photo enthusiasts, for those who
study corals and fish to those divers who only wish to appreciate
fantastic world-class diving.
Extraordinarily rich in diversity with varying topography and a
multitude of marine animals to observe, the extensive reefs at Ponta
Malongane are pristine and offer you unbelievable diving experience.
Any water sport activities in Ponta Malongane are run from the Dive Centre,
situated in the southern part of the resort just 30 meters from the
beach. It is a stylised 2 floor wooden complex, with self-catering
kitchen, dining area, bar, small pool, a medical room, kitting up decks
and compressor station, which offers you 232 Bar air-fills.
THE DIVE CAMP
On your arrival to the
dive camp, please speak to our staff to show you the facilities, allocate
you some space in fridges and brief you on our setup. Dive planning
normally takes place at 5 pm on the evening prior to the dive and can be
done by Malongane’s staff only. All divers will be required to show
their valid C-card and log book to the dive camp staff; you will need to
fill out indemnity forms before diving. All dives confirmed during dive
planning will be charged for.
Guests, who stay in dive log huts and tents can help themselves to tea
and coffee in the dive camp during their stay in the resort.
Guests are asked to be at the dive centre a minimum of 45-60 minutes
prior to the dive launch time. This time is spent on assembling
equipment, discussing the dive and listening to the dive master complete
the dive briefing. Your assembled hard gear and weights will be loaded
on the boats by our staff, but you will need to carry your masks and
fins to the boat yourself.
Launches into the surf commence early in the morning (starting from 6:00
am) with qualified Dive Masters and Skippers on appropriately equipped
rubber ducks. Ponta Malongane uses 7m and 8m long Buccaneer / Rubber
Duck boats, which are fully equipped to comfortably suit groups of up to
16 divers. All launches are done from the beach with all divers helping
to push the boats into the waters of the bay.
After diving, all equipment is washed by our staff, and stored in the
dive decks of the dive camp, ready for your next dive. During the
high/premium seasons or on request (subject to favourable weather
conditions), night dives are also available to the more advanced and
adventurous divers. Please note, that you should prepay your dives with
